Construction Institute is a fast-paced and hands-on competition at the ASCE Southeast Student Conference that challenges teams to complete real-world construction tasks with speed, accuracy, and safety. Each year’s challenge is different! Past events have included building wooden structures, assembling formwork, or completing tasks that test teamwork, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Our team trains throughout the year, learning proper tool use, safety practices, and efficient building techniques. At conference, we compete against schools from across the Southeast in timed events where every second and every detail matters.
If you enjoy working with your hands, collaborating in a team, and tackling real construction challenges, Construction Institute is a great way to gain practical experience. No previous construction experience is required, just a willingness to learn! You can join by attending a General Body Meeting, talking to a Captain, or contacting us via webcourses, Instagram, Discord, or ASCE on KnightConnect.
