Timber Strong is one of the signature competitions we participate in each year at the ASCE Southeastern Student Symposium. This project focuses on the design and construction of a small-scale, multi-story wood-framed structure that must meet strict building code requirements while supporting applied lateral and vertical loads.
On competition day, teams present their structural designs to a panel of judges and then race to assemble their building as efficiently and accurately as possible. Timber Strong offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with wood construction, structural analysis, and project management, all while working as part of a fast-paced team environment.
No prior experience is required to join, whether you’re interested in design, construction, or simply learning more about wood structures, we encourage you to get involved!
